Apple removed all Russian VK apps from the App Store and blocked developer accounts due to British sanctions
A few days ago it became known about the removal from the App Store applications VK Company, including the social network "VKontakte", VK Music, VK Clips, VK Messenger, VK Admin and VK Play. Later, the Mail.ru disappeared from the store.
Here's What We Know
The removal of VK Company software from the App Store collapsed by more than 20% of the Russian company's stock price. Two days later, it became known why the American giant took such a step. Adam Dema, an Apple spokesman, said that all VK applications were removed from the App Store and developers' accounts were blocked.
The reason was the UK sanctions against Russia, its individuals and entities. VK ecosystem applications are distributed by developers whose shares are owned by the parties hit by the British sanctions. The apps cannot be downloaded from any App Store, regardless of location. But previously installed apps will continue to work, albeit without the ability to update.
