German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht spoke about when the IRIS-T air defense system will arrive in Ukraine.

Here's What We Know

The head of the Bundeswehr arrived in Odessa with a visit that was not previously announced. Usually in such situations, Western politicians bring with them good news. Christine Lambrecht was no exception.

This week, German Ambassador Anka Feldhusen announced that in 2022 the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be replenished with two German-made air defense systems. According to Lambrecht, Ukraine will receive the first IRIS-T air defense system "in the next few days". The second will be delivered before the end of the year.

Flashback

IRIS-T, like NASAMS (also soon to be in Ukraine) can shoot down air objects at a distance of 40 km in range and 20 km in height. The complex is designed to provide protection against enemy aircraft, cruise missiles, drones, anti-radar missiles and rockets.
