Olena Zelenska launched in Turkey the flagship corvette of the Ukrainian Navy "Hetman Ivan Mazepa" Ada class

The launching ceremony of the Ukrainian Navy's flagship corvette "Hetman Ivan Mazepa" Ada class took place at the RMK Marine shipyard in Turkey.

This was reported by the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska in social networks. She personally cut the cable and launched the corvette into the water.

"Today in Turkey I had the honor to launch the corvette, which will serve Ukraine and at the same time will have a Turkish heart," - said Elena Zelenska.

Flashback

The Ada is a type of anti-submarine coastal corvette developed for the Turkish Navy. The Turkish navy has already commissioned four such corvettes and plans to commission several more in the near future.

Ukraine signed a contract to build two such corvettes in 2020. The first corvette is due to enter service with the Ukrainian Navy in 2023 or 2024. The Ada type corvette is 99.5m long and can accommodate a crew of up to 93. The maximum speed of the ship reaches 29 knots.
