New record - Ukrainian anti-aircraft gunners shot down eight Iranian Shahed-136 kamikaze drones

The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to shoot down Iranian kamikaze drones Shahed-136, which the Russian army uses mainly to attack the south of the country (Odessa and Mykholaiv regions), with varying success.

Here's What We Know

According to the General Staff, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were able to shoot down eight Iranian-made drones in a day on October 2, five of them at night. This is a new record for the country's air defense. The previous record was six eliminated drones and was set on September 23.

Shahed-136 is a new suicide drone. It was introduced in 2020. The drone has a 40-50 payload and can fly, according to various reports, from 1,000 km to 2,000 km. The drone was first used in late 2020 in Yemen.
