Ukraine has requested long-range ATACMS ballistic missiles, subject to agreement on targets with the U.S.

CNN, citing sources, reports that Ukraine has made another request for tactical surface-to-surface ballistic missiles. The new condition is that the targets be agreed upon with the United States.

In this way, Ukraine wants to persuade Joe Biden's administration that the transfer of the long-range missiles will not lead to strikes on Russian territory. Earlier Washington claimed that delivery of ATACMS may cause an escalation and even the World War III, since it will make the United States a party to the conflict.

MGM-140 ATACMS is a ballistic missile with the launch range up to 300 km. The MGM-140B ATACMS Block 1A modification can hit targets at maximum range. It has 160 kg warhead with 275 M74 elements, inertial guidance system and NAVSTAR satellite navigation system receiver.
