Xiaomi 12T and Xiaomi 12T Pro will update to Android 15 and receive security patches for four years

Chinese company Xiaomi on October 4 announced flagship smartphones Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro. In addition to having a 200MP camera in the Pro version, new items will be distinguished by a long support.

Xiaomi promises that both flagships will receive security patches for four years, that is, until 2026. Although there is a possibility that closer to the end of the lifecycle, the company will not release updates monthly, but only once a quarter or even once every six months. But this is standard practice for many manufacturers.

But the big news regarding updates is that the Xiaomi 12T and Xiaomi 12T Pro will receive three major operating system updates. The flagships went on sale with Android 12. That means they will get Android 13, Android 14 and even Android 15 in the future.

How many versions of the proprietary MIUI shell will be released for them, the company has not yet specified. But the smartphones will have to get their three updates, i.e. with MIUI 16 inclusive.
