Poland plans to become one of the participants in the U.S. program for the common use of nuclear weapons. This was announced by President Andrzej Duda.

Here's What We Know

Duda noted that the lack of nuclear weapons in Poland is a problem for the country against the background of Russian aggression in Ukraine. At the same time, he is aware that in the near future Poland will not have the prospect of obtaining them. However, there is another way to use nuclear weapons even in the absence of them.

Andrzej Duda talked to U.S. leaders about the possibility of Poland's participation in the U.S. nuclear weapons program. Negotiations on this subject will continue.

This program is part of the policy of the North Atlantic Alliance for nuclear deterrence. Under the project, other countries can participate in the planning, storage and use of nuclear weapons. In addition, they receive aircraft for strikes.

At the same time officially the program does not expand the list of NATO member countries, which have in their arsenal of this type of weapons. Now only the United Kingdom and France, in addition to the United States, have nuclear weapons. But only the US decided to share them with other countries.
