Tesla in 2017 showed a concept of an electric Semi truck, and now, five years later, the company is starting mass production of the new product.
Here's What We Know
Billionaire and Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced it on Twitter. The first company that will receive the truck will be Pepsi. Shipment of trucks will begin on December 1, 2023.
Flashback
The Tesla Semi was scheduled to hit the market in 2019, but for unknown reasons, the announcement was delayed. The truck boasts a range of 800 km, an aerodynamic drag coefficient lower than that of the Bugatti Chiron supercar (0.36 vs. 0.38), autopilot, and four engines. They will accelerate the truck to 100 km/h in just 5 seconds. With a full load this figure will increase to 20 seconds.
