General Dynamics showed for the first time a prototype of the next generation AbramsX tank
General Dynamics Land Systems has released the first video showing the AbramsX tank prototype.
Here's What We Know
Apart from how the next-generation fighting vehicle will look, the American manufacturer did not reveal anything new. General Dynamics Land Systems recalled that the AbramsX will have reduced weight and a smaller crew. But the company did not provide exact figures.
The manufacturer also recalled the use of a hybrid propulsion system, which would cut fuel consumption by half while maintaining range at the same level as the M1 Abrams in the SEP V3 modification. The tank could get Cummins Advanced Combat Engine with up to 1500 horsepower. But at the moment this is just a guess.
Also, AbramsX can be equipped with 120-mm XM360 cannon, and 30-mm Kongsberg Protector RS6 Remote Weapon Station. Other features of the new generation tank are unmanned mode of operation, support for artificial intelligence, integrated cameras for 360-degree vision.
