Rheinmetall unveils new generation Lynx OMFV infantry fighting vehicle that can be equipped with drones
German company Rheinmetall brought to the AUSA 2022 armament show a concept of a new generation infantry fighting vehicle Lynx OMFV.
Here's What We Know
The Lynx OMFV is equipped with an unmanned turret that is equipped with a third-generation FLIR system for night and low-visibility operations. The combat vehicle has a highly maneuverable tracked chassis and active protection.
Another feature of the Lynx OMFV is a system for countering unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The infantry fighting vehicle also has an anti-tank system in its arsenal. The final version of the BMP will be able to use the upgraded Raytheon TOW guided missile.
The Lynx OMFV will not only be able to eliminate enemy drones, but will also be available in a modification with its own drones. The BMP will get a Coyote UAS system with drones to identify and destroy enemy targets.
As a final note, the Lynx OMFV will receive artificial intelligence support to improve situational awareness on the battlefield. In addition to Rheinmetall, Allison Transmission, Raytheon, Textron Systems and L3Harris are involved in the development of the vehicle.
