AMRAAM missiles for NASAMS, drones and 18 howitzers: Britain prepares new military aid package for Ukraine
British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace announced a new military aid package for Ukraine during a meeting in the "Ramstein" format in Brussels.
Here's What We Know
News agency Reuters writes about it. The new package will include missiles AMRAAM (Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile). These are all-weather air-to-air missiles. They are capable of engaging air targets beyond the line of sight. They were developed by the American company Hughes Aircraft in 1981. These missiles are in service of the US, UK, Germany and other NATO member states.
Usually AMRAAM is used together with F-15, F-16, F/A-18 and F-22 fighters, but the AFU will use them with the NASAMS SAM system, which will soon appear in the Ukrainian arsenal.
By the way, except AMRAAM, Great Britain will transfer to AFU hundreds of other missiles for antiaircraft defense, drones and 18 howitzers.
