On October 17, NATO will begin a Steadfast Noon nuclear exercise using B-52 Stratofortress strategic bombers

This coming Monday, October 17, B-52 Stratofortress strategic bombers will take part in a NATO nuclear exercise in northwestern Europe.

Here's What We Know

The purpose of the new exercise is to test the effectiveness of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's nuclear deterrent. They will last until October 30. This was announced by Oana Lungescu, NATO's official spokesperson.

The exercises will take place over the North Sea, Belgium and Great Britain. 14 member countries of the alliance will take part in them. In addition to the strategic bomber B-52 Stratofortress NATO will raise several dozens of aircraft, including reconnaissance, refuelers, fighters of the fourth and fifth generations.
