Iran plans to transfer Fateh-110 and Zolfaghar ballistic missiles with a launch range of up to 700 km to Russia
An intelligence agency of a U.S. ally claims that Iran is ready to transfer ballistic missiles to Russia. The Washington Post reports this, citing two officials who wish to remain anonymous.
Here's What We Know
We are talking about Fateh-110 and Zolfaghar. These are medium-range ballistic missiles. They can hit targets at ranges of up to 300 km and 700 km respectively. According to The Washington Post, the Iranian military-industrial complex has already begun production of the first batch of missiles ordered by Russia.
Iran and Russia reportedly agreed to supply ballistic missiles during a meeting between officials from the two countries on September 18. At the same time Iran received an order to produce and supply additional batches of kamikaze drones.
The Fateh-110 is a solid-propellant surface-to-surface missile. The fourth generation features improved strike accuracy through the use of commercial GNSS systems.
As for the Zolfaghar, it too is considered a ground-to-ground missile of the Fateh-110 family. In 2017, during a strike on Deir ez-Zor, it was confirmed to have a launch range of 700 km.
Note that over the weekend there was information about Russia's plans to obtain Iranian Arash-2 drones. But so far only Ukrainian and Russian media are reporting this, citing unknown sources from Iran.
