The Armed Forces of Ukraine demonstrated how the Soviet demining machine UR-77 "Meteorit" works.
Here's What We Know
The rocket demining unit is based on the 2C1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer. It appeared in 1978 as a replacement for the UR-67. "Meteorite" can create passages up to 6 meters wide in anti-tank minefields.
Because of the characteristic appearance of the firing shaft of the UR-77 "Meteorite" has the folk name "Gorynych Serpent". The rocket launcher creates a powerful shock wave that affects mine fuses. Each UR-77 "Meteorite" can carry two charges that clear a minefield 90 x 6 meters wide.
