During the official presentation dedicated to the Silent Hill universe, Konami announced the long-awaited remake of Silent Hill 2.

Here's What We Know

The development is handled by Bloober Team, the team approaches the remake with great care and respect for the original game. The developers are working closely with the creators of the original game, including Akira Yamaoka and Masahiro Ito, to preserve that unique atmosphere of Silent Hill 2.

One of the features of the remake will be a standard third-person view, as if the camera is behind the shoulder of the protagonist. The game will rebuild the combat system, as well as improve facial animations to better convey the emotions of the characters.

The project is being developed on the Unreal Engine 5 game engine. Along with this, they use Lumen for lighting and Nanite for level design. All this will help to revive the foggy city and enhance its atmosphere.

Now it's worth talking about platforms. Silent Hill 2 will be released on PC and PlayStation 5. For the latter, the game will be exclusive for one year. Gamers on PS5 will be able to determine the exact direction of the sound thanks to the 3D audio capabilities of the console. The WWise sound engine creates a realistic and believable soundscape that helps players feel truly inside the game. The developers also want to use all the features of DualSense for a unique experience.

When We Can Expect It

There is no exact release date for Silent Hill 2 at this time. The game will first be a PlayStation 5 exclusive for one year, and then will appear on PC.
