The God of War: Ragnarok developers revealed the combat system, new enemies, Kratos' power, and Atreus' new battle capabilities
An 8-minute video from the developers of God of War: Ragnarok tells more about the combat system, enemies and the interaction of Kratos and Atreus during battles.
Here's What We Know
The developers listened to the fans and Ragnarok will have more types of enemies, minibosses and large creatures. In each of the Nine Realms, players will face unique opponents that can only be found in a separate world.
During the battles, Atreus will become more independent. In God of War (2018), he followed Kratos and had a limited set of capabilities. Now he has become a better warrior and does not hesitate to improvise and move independently, regardless of what his father does. In general, the father and son duo has improved a lot. Atreus will take a more active part in solving puzzles and exploring the world. And his contribution to the story will become more noticeable.
Kratos will become even stronger, so you will have access to new features and combinations that will dilute the gameplay. This will help the legendary Blades of Chaos, they have become more powerful. Also, we did not forget about the shield. It opens up even more options in the fight against enemies.
Battles have become more "vertical". Kratos can climb to a hill to fight on it, or jump down to attack from above. In general, Kratos has become more mobile.
Sound plays an important role. For example, enemy attacks that cannot be blocked have a characteristic sound. This means that it's time to dodge and pause to attack again.
Flashback
God of War Ragnarok is a direct continuation of the game God of War (2018). The project is developed by Santa Monica studio. The events unfold in Scandinavian mythology and tell about the plight of the former Greek god of war Kratos, who moved to Scandinavia, started a family and is trying to become a real father to his young son Atreus. However, the traumas of the past do not allow Kratos to get over himself.
