Lotus Cars has unveiled a premium electric crossover called the Lotus Eletre (all letters in place).

Here's What We Know

The novelty is the brand's first electric car out of a quartet of models promised through 2028. Geely Holding Group, which owns Lotus, is investing $1.2 billion in the facility where the Eletre will be produced.

The E-class car, according to Lotus representatives, is the world's first twin-engine crossover with an electric motor. The model is available in three configurations: Eletre, Eletre S and Eletre R. The first two are equipped with 450 kW (603 hp) engine, accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and can reach 258 km/h.

The Eletre R version is the most advanced of the three. It is equipped with 905 hp electric motor (675 kW). Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 2.95 seconds and top speed is 265 km/h.

Regardless of the version, all three cars are equipped with a 112 kWh traction battery. But the range is different. The Eletre and Eletre S have 600 km on the WLTP cycle, but the Eletre R can't go more than 490 km on a single charge. According to the manufacturer, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes thanks to a quick charging station.

The Lotus Eletre's on-board system is based on two Qualcomm 8155 chips. The car has a touchscreen OLED display. The diagonal of the central console is 15.1". Also the car has its own operating system - Lotus HyperOS. The sound subsystem is represented by 15 speakers with Dolby Atmos support.

Price & When We Can Expect It

The manufacturer's recommended price for the Lotus Eletre starts at €95,990. The price is valid for Germany. From 2024, the car will also be sold in North America, the Middle East and the Pacific Asia region.
