Foxconn will move 40-45% of iPhone production from China to India

Foxconn plans to move some of Apple's smartphone production from China to another Asian country.

This week we've touched on the topic of the drop in iPhone production at Foxconn factories in China due to the COVID-19 outbreak several (1, 2) times. The Taiwanese company may take drastic measures to address the problem.

Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that Foxconn is considering moving up to 45% of smartphone production from China to India. It now accounts for about 4 percent of all iPhones produced, although production began more than four years ago with the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. At that time, Apple's flagship was the iPhone X, but it was not produced in India. Now even the iPhone 14 is assembled in Foxconn's Indian factories.

The Taiwanese giant in 2023 plans to increase the share of Indian production by 150%, i.e. 2.5 times. But transferring 40-45% of production is Foxconn's long-term plan. But so far there are no specifics on this.
