The number of Twitter staff has been halved. This was reported by Yoel Roth, head of the security department.

Here's What We Know

Despite the sharp reduction in staff, Twitter will not cut back on the social network's main content moderation capabilities. The key priority will remain the fight against false information spread on the platform.

Trust & Safety group is responsible for it in Twitter. Joel Roth noted that in comparison to other departments it suffered relatively little. The number of Trust & Safety staff was reduced by 15%.

Twitter is being sued because of the staff cuts. The plaintiffs believe that the dismissal is in violation of the law which requires that the staff should be notified about the dismissal at least 60 days in advance.

Lawyers for Elon Musk argue that employees will continue to receive payments and benefits while the layoff is being processed. This period is exactly 60 days. If employees agree to sign a termination agreement and a document called "Release of All Claims," they will also be paid severance pay in the amount of one month's salary.
