In a news story today, we touched on the topic of iPhone 14 production being cut by several million units. Bloomberg's sources said that the reason was low demand, not quarantine restrictions in China. But now Apple itself has admitted that a problem at the Foxconn plant in Zhengzhou still exists and is affecting shipments.

Here's What We Know

The Foxconn factory in Zhengzhou is the largest Apple smartphone manufacturing facility in the world. The factory produces the latest iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models. Until recently, Foxconn has stated that the situation at the production plant is under control, although photos and videos of people fleeing the plant have appeared on social networks. Apple itself has not commented on this in any way. But that all changed last weekend.

Apple still had to admit the problem. The American manufacturer has only published a brief press release stating that the COVID restrictions "temporarily" affect the production of the iPhone 14 Pro series. They will last at least until November 9. Apple also notes that the Zhengzhou plant is operating at reduced capacity, and the health and safety of workers is a key priority for the firm.

Because of high demand, there will be a growing delay in shipments of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. According to Bloomberg, if customers order smartphones now, they can only expect to receive them by the end of the month or even early December.
