Software developer David Schütz has found a way to unlock the Pixel 6 smartphone using a second SIM card.

Here's What We Know

In order to unlock it, you have to do a few simple steps, the hardest of which is buying a new SIM card. First, you need to scan your fingerprint incorrectly several times in a row so that the smartphone asks for a password.

Next, you must replace the SIM card with a new one, after which the Pixel 6 will open a window for entering the PIN. After incorrect entry of PIN (three times) the system will ask PUK-code. And here you need to enter the correct PUK from the purchased SIM-card. After entering the correct PUK, the smartphone will prompt the user to set a new PIN and unlock it.

David Schütz could have gotten up to $100,000 for discovering the vulnerability, but he was a little late. As it turned out, Google already knew about the problem and was working to fix it. Still, Google paid the specialist a reward of $70,000. The vulnerability is fixed with the installation of November's Android 13 operating system update.
