Waiting for the Archer SAU and RBS 70 man-portable air defense systems: Sweden will supply Ukraine with modern weapons
Sweden is going to supply Ukraine with modern weapons.
Here's What We Know
Swedish Defense Minister Pal Jonson told TT. The country's government is expected to make a corresponding decision in the coming days.
What kind of weapons will be sent to Ukraine Jonson did not say. Most likely, the question is about the Archer self-propelled artillery systems. This is the modern Swedish 155 mm SAU on the basis of Volvo A30D 6×6 chassis. It is designed to destroy manpower, artillery batteries and bunkers, as well as to provide passages in minefields and field barriers. The SAU is served by 3-4 men. It is capable of engaging targets at ranges up to 60 km (with Excalibur rounds).
In addition to the Archer, the AFU can also receive the RBS 70, a man-portable air defense system developed in Sweden by Bofors Defense (now Saab Bofors Dynamics). The system uses BOLIDE laser guided missiles. They can hit targets at ranges up to 8 km and altitudes up to 5 km. Man-portable air defense systems have a recharge time of only 2 seconds.
