The ability to stream, improved video recording quality and Discord calls directly from the console: Microsoft begins rolling out November update for Xbox consoles
Microsoft has announced that it will begin rolling out a November update for Xbox consoles that will allow you to join voice chats directly from the console, as well as add a new Captures app and bring several other improvements.
Here's What We Know
Previously, if you wanted to join a Discord voice chat on Xbox, you had to use your phone or computer to forward the call. With the new update, you will be able to do this directly from the app on Xbox in the "Parties and Chats" section. The company began testing this feature last month with Xbox Insider members, but it had limitations: you again needed to use your phone to join a one-on-one call.
The update also includes the Captures app, which will allow you to better view, edit, and manage your screen recordings, as well as record them to an external drive. On Series S and X consoles, 720p and 1080p recording with higher bitrates will be available, which will improve the image quality.
Also with the update, users will be able to start live broadcasts of Twitch, Lightsream and Streamlabs directly from the console.
