Great Britain gives Ukraine three Sikorsky S-61 Sea King helicopters to be used for search and rescue missions
British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace announced a new aid package for Ukraine.
Here's What We Know
We are talking about 10,000 artillery shells, as well as three Sikorsky S-61 Sea King helicopters. One of them is already in Ukraine. The helicopters are planned to be used for search and rescue missions. By the way, the Ukrainian crews have already passed a 6-week training course to operate the Sikorsky S-61 Sea King.
Flashback
Sikorsky S-61 Sea King is a civilian version of the military helicopter SH-3 Sea King. It was developed by the American company Sikorsky Aircraft and was produced not only in the USA, but also in the UK under license. The British model is called the Westland Sea King. It differs from the American model by Rolls-Royce Gnome engines, anti-submarine warfare systems of British production and fully computerized flight control system. Most likely it is these models that will be transferred to Ukraine.
