Rheinmetall to produce ammunition for Gepard anti-aircraft systems in Spain

German concern Rheinmetall after the acquisition of Spanish company Expal Systems SA is going to start production of 35 mm ammunition for anti-aircraft guns Gepard.

This was reported by the Handelsblatt newspaper. The ammunition will be produced at Expal Systems SA facilities in Spain. There is no information when exactly the production is planned to start.

By the way, 30 Gepard anti-aircraft guns are now in service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They have been transferred by Germany. The Ukrainian Armed Forces use the anti-aircraft guns to destroy Iranian kamikaze drones Shahed-136 and other UAVs.

The Gepard is a German-made self-propelled anti-aircraft launcher (SAM). It is designed to cover the ground troops, destroy air targets at a slanting range from 100 m to 4 km and at altitudes up to 3 km, flying at a speed of 350-400 m/s, as well as ground and surface targets at ranges up to 4500 meters. By the way, Gepard is built on the chassis of the Leopard tank.
