The Boeing Company asked the Pentagon for permission to supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine with shells with a range of more than 100 km.

Here's What We Know

This was reported by the news agency Reuters, citing its sources. It is about the projectiles GLSDB (Ground-Launched Small Diameter Bomb). GLSDB combines the GBU-39 small-diameter bomb (SDB) with an M26 rocket engine. It is capable of engaging targets at ranges up to 150 km.

GLSDB projectiles are produced by Boeing in conjunction with SAAB AB. They are relatively inexpensive to produce. For example, the GBU-39 bomb costs about $40,000. The GLSDB is controlled by GPS. These projectiles can be used in different weather conditions. They are capable of destroying enemy armored vehicles. GLSDBs can be launched from HIMARS, M270 MLRSs or aircraft.

If GLSDB deliveries are approved, the AFU may receive them in the spring of 2023.
