NVIDIA announced that Portal with RTX, which should demonstrate the capabilities of the new line of GeForce RTX 40 graphics cards, will be released on Steam on December 8. And it will be free for those who purchased the original Portal.

Here's What We Know

This version was first announced at the NVIDIA GTC 2022 presentation. The game will support ray tracing, as well as DLSS 3.0 technology. According to NVIDIA, every frame of gameplay is improved with full ray tracing, hand-created high-resolution physics-based textures, and new, improved high-poly models. Performance is accelerated with NVIDIA DLSS 3.0, allowing the game to run smoothly, and latency is minimised with NVIDIA Reflex.

In order to better understand the essence of the remaster, we publish screenshots and a video demonstrating NVIDIA DLSS 3.0:

NVIDIA also published the system requirements of the game. The company admits that the game is very demanding, but not only RTX 40 owners will be able to try it. With DLSS 2.0, gamers with GeForce RTX 3060 and RTX 3080 will be able to run the game at 1080p and 60 fps. More details about the requirements can be found in the screenshot below:

Two days before the release, on December 6th at 8:00pm (EET), NVIDIA will be hosting a livestream on their Twitch channel to share more details about the game, as well as give away a few copies of Portal and one RTX 4090. You can also participate in the contest on Twitter. To do this, you need to subscribe to the company's official page and share a screenshot of how you add the game to yourSteam wishlist with the caption #PortalRTX.
