Der Spiegel: a new batch of Gepard self-propelled air defense systems will arrive in Ukraine in spring
Yesterday, December 1, the German government announced that it was going to transfer a new batch of Gepard anti-aircraft guns to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It is now known when the weapons will arrive in Ukraine.
When We Can Expect It
According to the German publication Der Spiegel, seven anti-aircraft guns will be sent to Ukraine only in the spring. The fact is that the units are currently undergoing repairs at the Krauss-Maffei Wegmann facility. Earlier Germany wanted to utilize them. Most likely, we are talking about the first version of the Gepard. It differs from the one currently in service with the AFU by a reduced number of electrical devices.
Flashback
The Gepard is a German self-propelled air defense gun and missile defense system. It is designed to cover the land forces, destroy the air targets at a slanting range of 100 m to 4 km and at altitudes up to 3 km, flying at a speed of 350-400 m/s, as well as ground and surface targets at ranges up to 4500 m. By the way, Gepard is built on the chassis of the Leopard tank.
