Uber has launched an unmanned cab service (but there is a "but")

Uber has launched a service to order an unmanned cab. Now users will be able to ride in an autonomous car. Well, almost autonomous.

For now, the service is only available in Las Vegas, and later will be expanded to Los Angeles. We're not talking about other countries yet.

In addition, passengers will not be alone in the car - there will be special operators behind the wheel, who will monitor the technology of unmanned control and increase the safety of such a trip.

The robotic cars used by Uber are created by Motional, a company dealing with unmanned technologies. Uber and Motional recently entered into a 10-year cooperation agreement, and here are the results. In particular, a mid-sized Hyundai Ioniq 5 hatchback is sent for passengers.

Thus, Uber, which sold its autonomous vehicle division a few years ago, has retained its share in this sector, but without having to engage in its own research and development, which requires a solid investment.
