Xiaomi has no plans to release a gaming smartphone as part of its next-generation Redmi K series in 2023.

Here's What We Know

Lu Weibing, known as (William Lu), said that in 2023, the world will not need special smartphones focused on mobile gaming. According to the head of the Redmi brand and vice president of Xiaomi, this trend is doomed to death.

The manager confirmed that as part of the Redmi K60 series, we should not expect the presentation of the Gaming Edition model. Such smartphones were released in 2021 and 2022 - Redmi K40 Gaming and Redmi K50 Gaming, respectively. The head of Redmi claims that the performance of the regular Redmi K60 will be enough for gaming. To be fair, the Snapdragon 888-powered Redmi K40 Pro or the Dimensity 9000-powered Redmi K50 Pro also had enough for gaming, but that didn't stop the company from releasing Gaming versions.

The Redmi K60 line will be represented by at least three smartphones: the Redmi K60, Redmi K60 Pro and Redmi K60E. The latter will get a new Dimensity 8200 chip, it was officially confirmed two days ago. The presentation of the smartphones is expected in early 2023. It is possible that soon after the announcement, the company will introduce the Ultra version.
