Ukraine shows upgraded M-55S tanks on the battlefield for the first time
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have been using the upgraded M-55S tanks for over a month, but only now has the first video of the fighting machines on the battlefield appeared.
Here's What We Know
In mid-September, Slovenia announced deliveries of M-55S tanks to Ukraine, which are upgrades of T-55s. In late October it was officially confirmed that the tanks had arrived in Ukraine. And now analysts @UAWeapons have published a short video of the armored vehicles.
The M-55S has dynamic protection and a V12 engine. The powerplant has 600 horsepower, about 15% more than the T-55. Upgrades include a new 105mm L7 cannon and Fotona SGS-55 laser rangefinder sight.
The T-55 was developed in the middle of the last century. In the late 90s, Slovenia upgraded 30 combat vehicles together with the Israeli company Elbit System. Bratislava sent 28 M-55S tanks to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
