The Indian government is successfully implementing a strategy aimed at turning the country into a global center of smartphone and electronics production. For example, Chinese manufacturers Xiaomi, OPPO and Vivo have decided to move some production from China to India.

Details

The three companies have already finalized plans to export products from India. Smartphones produced in India will go to the global market - most likely, they will be sold in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.

Incidentally, Apple and Samsung recently made similar moves. We recently wrote that Apple is considering manufacturing some of its iPad tablets in India.

There are several reasons for moving production to India. First, a stricter policy on investment from China. Second, India's Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. The PLI scheme offers incentives for India-oriented manufacturing and exports.
