Xiaomi will limit MIUI 14 functionality in older smartphones

A few days ago Xiaomi delighted users with the new firmware, and the Chinese operator China Mobile hastened to upset everyone with the fact that the shell's functionality will be limited on some models.

MIUI 14 introduced a feature called "photonic engine". It allows you to improve the speed and smoothness of the standard applications and some third-party programs. But it will only work on smartphones equipped with Snapdragon 8 / 8+ Gen 1 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chips.

Owners of older devices can only dream of translating text in pictures and photos. But this feature will be available not only to the flagship models. The list includes chips from the Snapdragon 7 and Snapdragon 8 series, as well as Helio, starting with Helio G80.

But the funniest situation will be observed with the touted ability to remove almost all built-in applications (except eight). It turned out that this option will only be available to owners of smartphones that were released after October 2022.
