Tesla Model Y loses 18% of its range in freezing temperatures, but it's one of the best in the U.S.

Recurrent conducted a study to determine what percentage of range electric cars lose in a little frost.

Recurrent provides battery condition monitoring services for electric vehicles. The company has a customer base of more than 10,000 motorists. The study included at least 7,000 cars in the United States.

For their work, Recurrent experts analyzed data on 13 models. At the same time, in two cases, there were given estimates, which most likely have nothing to do with reality. Specifically, the Audi e-tron and Jaguar I-Pace at -7 degrees Celsius lose 8% and 3% of the range, respectively. Do we believe?

The third electric car of the German Volkswagen concern in this list is the ID.4. According to Recurrent, the car loses almost a third of its power reserve (30%). Note that the U.S. Volkswagen ID.4 has been left without a heat pump. The Ford Mustang Mach-E and Chevy Bolt losses are 24% and 32%, respectively.

Taking the Audi e-tron and Jaguar I-Pace out of the bracket, Tesla's Model X (19%) and Model Y (18%) show the best results. The Tesla Model S and Model 3 Long Range (75 KWh) have 22% and 25% loss of power reserve, respectively.
