The other day in California, the satellite and crash detection features of the iPhone 14 helped save two people.

Here's What We Know

The two victims were involved in an accident: their car went off the road, flew 90 meters and ended up in a canyon. The smartphone recorded that there was an accident and sent the information to the rescuers. Since there was no cellular signal in the canyon, the call was made via satellite.

Rescuers quickly found the car and the victims, as Apple's data on their location was quite accurate. Using a helicopter, the men were removed and taken to the hospital, where they received the necessary medical attention. Both suffered minor to moderate injuries.

This is not the first time that Apple's features have helped save lives. To date, the Emergency SOS option via satellite is available in the U.S., Canada, France, Germany, Ireland and the UK.
