Raytheon received $84 million to produce M982 Excalibur precision-guided munitions, which the Pentagon is supplying to Ukraine

The American defense company Raytheon Missiles and Defense will produce a new batch of M982 Excalibur high-precision ammunition.

Tranche Seven (Tranche Seven) has allocated $84 million to produce more than 1,000 155mm Excalibur precision-guided munitions. The Pentagon has been sending these projectiles to Ukraine for months as part of an effort to strengthen the country's defense.

The Excalibur 1B version has Enhanced Shaped Trajectory software. It allows the gunners to angle the projectile to hit enemy equipment in hard-to-reach places.

The M982 Excalibur is a relatively new precision-guided munition. It was first used in the war in Iraq 15 years ago. According to official data, more than 90% of the projectiles fell within 4 meters of the target.

Excalibur is designed for M109, M777, AS90, CAESAR, Panzerhaubitze 2000, K9 Thunder, DENEL G6, M168 and Archer howitzers. Ukraine has already received the first five artillery systems, and in the near future the Archer guns from Sweden may be transferred to the Armed Forces.
