The Lithuanian authorities are ready to allocate almost half a billion dollars for the purchase of M142 HIMARS highly mobile artillery missile systems.

Here's What We Know

On December 15, Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anušauskas (Arvydas Anušauskas) signed an agreement during his visit to the United States to purchase eight M142 HIMARS. The U.S. company Lockheed Martin was the executor of the contract, and the preliminary cost of the deal is about $495 million.

It is worth noting that the agreement was signed about a month after approval by the U.S. State Department. The first M142 HIMARS missile systems will be delivered to Lithuania in 2025.

Along with the HIMARS, Lithuania will receive several types of missiles. These include ATACMS operational-tactical ballistic missiles, which can hit targets at ranges up to 300 kilometers.
