New Zealand carrier Air New Zealand has announced that it has placed an order to buy electric planes from Eviation Aircraft for regional transportation.

Here's What We Know

Eviation Aircraft in 2019 introduced an electric aircraft designed to carry up to nine passengers. The vehicle is called the Alice. It will be able to reach speeds of up to 481 km/h and will have a range of 463 km.

Israeli company plans to begin mass deliveries of electric planes in 2027. Air New Zealand has entered into an agreement to supply up to 23 aircraft that will serve regional routes in the country.

Buying electric planes has several benefits. The environmental benefit is lower emissions. A plus for the company will be lower maintenance costs compared to planes that use fossil fuels.
