Recently we wrote that the U.S. is considering transferring Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. Now new details about the supply of SAM systems have appeared on the Internet.

Here's What We Know

According to Politico, the U.S. is already negotiating how to transfer the complexes as soon as possible. One of the options is that Ukraine can get Patriot from the US reserves. What is interesting we are speaking about the newest modification of the complex - PAC-3 (Patriot Advanced Capability-3). This version of the SAM is designed to destroy ballistic and cruise missiles.

The USA is also considering the possibility of signing a contract with Raytheon Technologies for the production of such SAMs, but in this case the supply of weapons will take years, and Ukraine needs modern air defense now.

Another problem is the training of Ukrainian soldiers. According to Politico, up to 90 people will be needed to maintain one Patriot battery. It will take months to train that many soldiers.
