HTC will unveil flagship VR/AR headset at CES 2023
We don't write about HTC very often, and it hardly ever gives us any news. For example, the last time the combination of the letters "htc" appeared in a headline was in mid-August. And only because the word "Blightcaller" is there. We wrote about the company even earlier - in July, when the A101 tablet was introduced. And now it's time for more news, featuring the once leading smartphone maker. He's not texting himself about the phone. And thank goodness for that.
Here's What We Know
The Verge has learned that HTC is working on a new flagship virtual and augmented reality headset. The presentation will take place on January 5 at the CES 2023 exhibition in Las Vegas. Some of the features of the device revealed Shen Ye, one of the representatives of the Taiwanese company.
The commercial name of the headset is not specified. It is known that it will look like large glasses, that is, expect similarity with the Vive Flow. A key feature of the device will have side and frontal cameras to form the effects of augmented reality.
On a single charge, the headset company HTC will be able to work for two hours. The model will be equipped with a sensor to determine the depth of the scene to form an accurate map of space. Also, Shen Ye promises that the device will support a wide dynamic range, so it will be able to see the text on a smartphone or laptop.
The cost is unknown. In addition, a representative of HTC refused to specify what category of customers will be aimed at the upcoming novelty: for business, like the Vive Focus 3 ($1300), or for ordinary users, like the already mentioned Vive Flow ($600). However, Shen Ye stressed that the new headset will combine the strengths of both models.
