While the public's attention is riveted on the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard, it was reported that in the zone of interest of the American corporation got another big company.

Here's What We Know

Reuters reports that the Redmond giant may announce the purchase of Netflix in 2023.

Reuters analysts believe several factors point to this:

  1. The companies have worked closely together for several years, especially in advertising: Microsoft is an advertising partner of Netflix's subscription service.
  2. Microsoft president Brad Smith is a member of Netflix's board of directors.
  3. More recently, Netflix has been developing its own gaming division, with six game studios already in the company. Microsoft's experience could prove valuable to Netflix's plans to create and promote its own games.
  4. In turn, Microsoft will acquire a valuable partner in streaming technology, which Xbox head Phil Spencer emphasizes.

It’s not likely that there will be any official announcements about the Netflix purchase until the complicated regulatory approval situation between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard is resolved, but nothing is stopping Microsoft from preparing for this merger.
