Google has acquired the rights to broadcast Sunday National Football League (NFL) games and will broadcast the games on YouTube.

Here's What We Know

Four companies competed for the Sunday Ticket package: Google, Amazon, Apple and Disney. Apple and Disney have recently dropped out of the race, and now it has been revealed that Google is the official broadcaster as of the 2023 season.

The Sunday Ticket package allows you to broadcast Sunday games that are not on FOX and CBS programming. Google will show the games on YouTube TV and YouTube Primetime Channels.

The value of the deal has not been officially announced, but The Wall Street Journal reports that it's $2 billion per year and the contract itself is for seven seasons. That's $500 million more than what DirecTV, which has been the official broadcaster since 1994, is paying.

Google is in no hurry to disclose the cost of the subscription. To be clear, DirecTV is offering Sunday games for the 2022 season for prices starting at $294. With 1.5 to 2 million subscribers, the company has been losing money for several years.
