Samsung is recalling 663,500 of its washing machines with vertical loads and super speed washing.

What this time.

The manufacturer warns users that these machines can short-circuit and overheat, leading to a fire. Samsung has already received 51 reports of washing machines smoking, melting, overheating or catching fire. 10 of these cases have led to property damage, 3 people were injured as a result of smoke poisoning.

They are the models WA49B, WA50B, WA51A, WA52A, WA54A and WA55A. They were all sold between June 2021 and December 2022 at prices ranging from $900 to $1500 at major retailers such as Best Buy, Costco, The Home Depot and Lowe's.

A software update can eliminate the fire hazard. If the device is not updated - users should immediately stop using the washer until the software is updated.

By the way, for Samsung (as well as for many gadget and appliance manufacturers) such situations are not new. Users still remember the story of the explosive smartphones Galaxy Note 7, which spontaneously combusted and exploded their batteries.
