Steam Deck OS 3.4 update improves console user experience and fixes bugs with some games
Recently, the Steam OS operating system running Steam Deck received a fresh version of the KDE Plasma desktop, which brought a bunch of useful things to the console that were added in the February, June and October Plasma updates.
Here's What We Know
The most important features for the average user is the updated gesture system, which allows better interaction with the device screen. Now, by swiping your fingers from the edge of the screen you can open the desktop grid, the menu of running programs and the desktop itself (minimize all open windows). There is also a function to synchronize the accent color of the desktop with the main color of the wallpaper. The function will work especially well with the "Picture of the Day".
Another nice thing is the support for system tray widgets, which will allow you, for example, to adjust the battery usage, or, which is definitely important for a mobile device, to resize text or add text next to icons.
The update also fixed problems with "a small number of games" that started to work inadequately after you wake the console from sleep mode.
Of course, this is not the entire list of updates, but only its main part. If you want to check them out for yourself, you can visit the update page on Steam.
