Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck powered the house for 44 hours and only lost 35% of its charge
The traction battery of the Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup can provide power to external consumers. This was used by one of the owners of the electric vehicle in Canada.
Here's What We Know
The Ford F-150 Lightning is maxed out with 11 outlets. The combined power output is 9.6 kW and the voltage is 240 V. A Canadian resident was able to power an entire house for 44 hours while the power was out.
Several refrigerators, a router, a TV and some lights were connected to the car. Power was restored nearly two days after the outage. During that time, the F-150 Lightning's battery had lost only 35% of its charge. 65% is enough to drive the pickup without additional recharging.
Ford Motor Company says the top-of-the-line version of the electric vehicle is capable of powering the house for 3-11 days, depending on load. It is equipped with a 131 kWh battery.
