Thales will build REV1 unmanned spacecraft to organize production in orbit
Thales Alenia Space and Space Cargo Unlimited are planning to create an unmanned spacecraft. It will be called REV1 and will be used to organize production in orbit.
Here's What We Know
The spacecraft will be able to transport cargo weighing up to 1 ton, and its dimensions will be comparable to those of a compact car. The unmanned REV1 scheme will maximize the simplicity of the spacecraft's design and make it easier to design.
The maximum payload mass is incomparable with that of manned spacecraft. This is due to the absence of the need to install equipment to protect the lives of astronauts. At the same time, inside REV1 will be maintained pressure to conduct experiments after the docking spacecraft to the orbital station. By the way, the station is also being designed by Thales Alenia Space
The space station is designed by Thales Alenia Space, which will be able to complete about two dozen missions within about 10 years. The first flight of the spacecraft is scheduled for the end of 2025. Details of the work will be made public closer to that time, but for now Space Cargo Unlimited says it has received preliminary approvals for industrial operations in orbit.
