Microsoft can beat Google Search with ChatGPT-enhanced Bing, thanks to OpenAI investment

Microsoft's billion-dollar investment in OpenAI, which resulted in the creation of ChatGPT, could be employed to enhance its search engine, Bing. ChatGPT could be the next big challenge for Microsoft, as the company looks to take on Google Search. Microsoft's 2019 investment of $1 billion in Open AI, which included a multi-year cloud-computing partnership to create new Azure AI supercomputing technologies, could be leading to ChatGPT-enhanced search capabilities on Bing as soon as March.

Here's What We Know

ChatGPT is designed to understand and generate natural language, allowing it to converse with users and provide answers to their questions. It is capable of understanding complex queries and providing detailed answers, as well as generating text that is grammatically correct. Microsoft hopes that ChatGPT can help them compete with Google in the search engine market.

Microsoft Research's executive vice president Peter Lee said, "ChatGPT is the next big challenge for us. We want to make sure that our search engine can understand natural language and provide answers to complex queries in an accurate and timely manner. We believe that ChatGPT can help us do this."

Lee added that Microsoft has seen a significant increase in the number of people using its search engine over the past year, with more than 3 billion search queries being made each month. He believes that ChatGPT will help them to continue to grow and compete with Google.

Microsoft is reportedly making moves to introduce a new version of Bing, which will use ChatGPT AI to answer certain search queries. This could potentially revolutionize the search market, which is largely dominated by Google at the moment.

Microsoft has invested in OpenAI, in the hopes of developing Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). This technology would enable a system to become an expert in any field and gain knowledge of multiple topics.

ChatGPT is the most renowned chatbot that responds to natural language commands, and it has gained more attention than Google's LaMDA or Meta's BlenderBot. Although these chatbots are not entirely reliable, Microsoft's Tay.ai chatbot failed to take off when it was released in 2016.

According to StatCounter, Google has a global market share of 92.5% compared to Bing's 3% and Yahoo's 1.24%. The New York Times reported that Google's management was alarmed by the impending launch of ChatGPT, as it could disrupt the search engine market.

Microsoft is already taking advantage of OpenAI technology to enhance Bing. In December, it unveiled DALL-E 2 image generator, which allows users to generate images based on keywords. This feature is still in preview, and it is not available in all regions yet. Microsoft is reportedly planning to use ChatGPT to improve Bing, and not to change the existing search engine.
