Sony showed a prototype of the Afeela car, which will appear in 2026
Sony brought a prototype of an electric car to CES 2023. It is called Afeela and is being developed together with Honda.
Here's What We Know
The Afeela features a closed grille and a light bar at the front, which can display, for example, the battery level. The electric car looks more like a symbiosis of the Porsche 911 and Lucid Air than the Vision-S concept announced at CES 2020.
The joint venture between the two corporations is called Sony Honda Mobility. It promises to release the first production model of an electric car in 2026. The Afeela is equipped with dozens of sensors, including cameras, radar, and LiDAR for unmanned driving.
The new car will take advantage of Sony's expertise in artificial intelligence and virtual reality. Some of Afeela's functionality will be available to customers on a subscription basis for an additional fee. Many companies do this, including Tesla, Mercedes-Benz and BWM.
