The new Model S and Model X are equipped with a handwheel instead of the usual round steering wheel. Anyone who does not like this innovation can solve the problem for a fee.

Here's What We Know

Tesla added a steering wheel to the configurator on the official website early last year, but without the option to purchase such a package. This encouraged car enthusiasts to modify the cars with their own hands.

At the Guangzhou Air Show, the company showed new variants of the Model S and Model X with a round steering wheel instead of a hand wheel. Chinese buyers will be able to buy any configuration of the car for the same price, but the U.S. residents will have to pay a few hundred dollars more to get a round steering wheel.

The official Tesla website in the U.S. states that the round steering wheel for the Model S and Model X will be available for an additional fee - $700. Orders for electric cars after the restyling will be available starting in March 2023.
