On January 10, 2023, Microsoft will stop supporting one of the most popular desktop operating systems Windows 7, as well as Windows 8. Systems will stop receiving critical security updates, and support for Microsoft Edge will stop at version 109.

Note that Edge is not the only major browser that stops supporting outdated operating systems. In October 2022, it became known that the platforms will be left without the Google Chrome browser on February 7. While both browsers will continue to run on these devices, they will not receive critical security updates or new features. Support for WebView2, a tool that allows developers to embed web content into their apps, will also end on January 10.

Microsoft strongly recommends that you install Windows 10 or 11 on your PC, and if your device doesn't support the newer OS, replace it to prevent potential security issues in the future.
